Stephen was admitted to practice in 1985 and has practised in commercial transactions and commercial litigation since then.
Stephen founded the firm in 1991 after gaining valuable experience at AR Conolly and Co and Gilbert + Tobin.
Stephen became an accredited specialist in commercial litigation in 1996.
Stephen’s expansive litigation experience:
- encompasses a range of industries and issues. He has acted in disputes involving corporations law, contracts, equity, property, intellectual property and trade practices;
- includes representation in all Australian Courts, including the High Court of Australia;
- includes bringing and defending urgent applications for injunctions.
Stephen focuses on providing commercially sensible and cost effective solutions to clients in situations where things have gone wrong. Stephen knows when to:
- bring the parties to the negotiation table;
- consider and use alternative dispute resolution methods; and
- aggressively pursue litigation.
Stephen’s practice also includes advising public and private companies on capital raisings, sales and acquisitions by private treaty and corporate reconstructions.
Stephen Blanks has a special interest in civil liberties, and is secretary of the NSW Council for Civil Liberties.
